About

Thomas Christopher Wandell

Born and raised in New York’s Hudson Valley, Thomas Christopher Wandell isn’t a transplant, but instead a returnee who brings his experiences on the drums and cymbals from the scenes of Boston, Barcelona, and New York City back on home.

An independant thinker, eager explorer, and ardent listener, Thomas' imagination hit full throttle at the highly impressionable age of two with a VHS copy of Walt Disney's The Three Caballeros, which he watched over and over again as it mesmerized him with its color, form, melody, dance, syncopation and world rhythms.

Formal studies included his attendance at Berklee College of Music in Boston where he was blessed with a scholarship to study with heroes and legends such as John Ramsay, George Garzone, Terri Lynn Carrington, Ed Tomassi, Joe Lovano, Ian Froman, Dave Santoro, Hal Crook, Greg Osby, Ralph Peterson, Jamey Haddad, Ron Mahdi and Jon Hazilla.

After graduating, Thomas spent more and more time in New York and began a career recording and performing internationally across a multitude of genres spanning from jazz to rock, blues to pop, and R&B all the way to the avant-garde. His fantastic experiences performing in Europe, along with the friends he made, led to his decision to move to Barcelona which served as his home base for four years as he continued making music.

Never one to settle for old tricks, Thomas stays committed to the life long refinement and development of his craft which fuels his passion as both a player and an educator, earning him a position as a sought after mentor for not only musicians, but anyone seeking to embrace the beginner’s mind and permit rhythm to move through the body. He has taught workshops, clinics, and private lessons for over ten years to students of all ages.
